Flippin’ Out @ USA International – Sim Update!

Friday night in the Spec Racer Ford race, 10:45PM EST, that’s the time I was able to get in.  The race actually had enough cars enter to have a split.  I was put in the bottom split with the really low Strength of Field, I believe it was 938.  I was car 4, qualified 4 and finished 4th.  That’s just crazy, iracing really pegged me on this one.  I should’ve done a lot better in this race but I was passed on the start, people just dive bomb and try to get ahead of you so I let them go.  My aim is to race clean but to also finish well.  This put me back in 7th.  Towards the end of that lap I was able to catch the two guys that dive bombed me and make a run on them.  I was cleanly on the inside and was hit by the 7 car who was clearly a problem driver.  That put us all the way in the back.  I was a little frustrated at this because I was running good laps and thought I had a shot at the win, in an effort to make up the time I just lost by wrecking with the 7 car I drove too hard into turn one and spun again.  After that I got my wits about me and was able to race my way up through the field to finish 4th.  Some racers took themselves out, others I was able to catch and pass.  It was quite enjoyable and I felt really good about my abilities, except when I saw that crappy SOF.

Running the MX-5 at Summit point, the Jefferson circuit in reverse.  I really do not like this track.  It is very technical with not a lot of passing opportunities.  I can run decent laps there but I tend to overdrive the car.  I can’t seem to slow down enough to get a good lap time.  I try to follow the other racers but to no avail, I just keep falling back in the standings.  I qualified 7th and finished 7th.  I was the 5 car so I lost irating but it was a completely clean race with no incidents.  Gained SR, lost irating.  I would’ve rather won the race with incidents!  It’s ok, I just don’t like this track.  I’ll take 7th.

Week 10 Standings

Street Stock went terrible.  I had the 3 car number so I needed to finish good to have a positive impact on my oval irating.  Unfortunately it did not go well.  I was having a fine start and playing it really safe while running this trace but on one of the turns, I thought I cleared the car on the outside and I didn’t, he in turn did not back off and spun me into the outside wall causing a massive collision and multiple flips down the straight.  I landed upright on the wheels but was still black flagged for excessive damage.  This put me 5 laps down in 13th position.  There were only 14 cars so it sucked.  I made up on more spot out on the track but that was it.  Finished the race in 12th.  I may have to try this again.

I had to do it again.  Ran 15 minutes of practice and almost finished an entire race full of practices.  Qualified in 4th and finished the race in 4th.  It was a nice clean race and there was a good battle for the whole race for the 4th position.  I was shuffled back to 5th during the start and then I found my groove.  I managed to race past the 4th position car and hold on till the end of the race to finish 4th.  Much better than the first one.
